When life gets busy, it can be hard to take a step back and breathe for a moment or two. Whether your a working mom juggling everyday tasks, or a student dealing with extra curricular's and trying to get straight A's, chaos tends to present itself on a daily basis.
If you lead a chaotic life, it is crucial to find balance. By this I simply mean not getting carried away in the stress of life and ensuring that you are still taking care of yourself! It is easy to get caught up in a busy schedule and lose a sense of structure. Now if you are an extremely busy person, this might sound like a far stretch, although it doesn't need to be! All you need to do is focus on three things; your mind, your body, and your soul.

Your mental and emotional health is easily effected while leading a hectic lifestyle. Start by focusing on something as simple and crucial as your sleep! Setting a sleep schedule and trying to stick to it everyday will help you stay energized and awake for a hard day at work or school. Don't stay up late for no reason when you could be sleeping, and try to go to bed around the same time as often as possible. Personally, I never cared about my sleep until 6 months ago. Today, my life tends to get very busy with work, school, and sports, and I have come to a point where I value my sleep more than anything else! It is also important to lead a good social life. Build positive relationships with people who make you happy and lift you up rather than put you down. Get rid of toxic people in your life and create time for the people you care about. Surrounding yourself with people who you love will help you to get a sense of relief during a stressful week. A good social life is an important part of your mental health!
A huge factor in a balanced lifestyle is your diet. Your diet can easily be neglected when you are caught up in things such as getting a paper done before the deadline, or getting a proposal to your boss in time. Remember, in order to function properly and perform your best at either work or school, you must east properly! Ensure that you aren't skipping meals and aren't eating junk food 24/7. Your body will thank you if you make sure to focus on healthy eating habits and not abandon this part of your daily life.
Along with your diet, it is important to focus on getting physical activity. Many people believe this means you must have a full blown work out everyday with a few rest days here and there. Though, this is totally false. Obviously fitting in a long workout everyday is unrealistic and hard for many people. In order to keep your body happy, use the time you have here and there to do some sort of DPA. Whether that may be going for a run, doing a five minute ab workout on your bedroom floor, or heading to the gym! Whatever works for you and your schedule. The trick is to incorporate physical activity into your daily schedule with realistic goals.
At the end of the day, no matter how busy your schedule is, remember that everyone deserves a minute to take a step back and BREATHE.
